911,419. Stands; brackets. MEIJS, P. J. Feb. 1, 1961 [Feb. 4, 1960], No. 3791/61. Classes 52 (3) and 52 (5). An adjustable " stay put " support comprises a socket carrying a measuring instrument 16 and mounted on an articulated stem formed by hollow members 2, 3, each held in contact with adjacent members and angularly adjustable relatively thereto by means of a flexible cord 5, means for tensioning the cord to lock the stem in any position being provided. The ends of the cord have flanges 6 by which they are anchored in cylinders 7, 12 which are axially slidable relatively to the stem, the cylinder 7 being mounted on an eccentric part 10 of a shaft 8 rotated by a handle 9 and situated at an end of the stem secured to a fixed base 1, and the cylinder 12 being mounted in a casing 11 having a cylindrical extension 18. The casing and the cylinder 12 are apertured to receive a locking pin 13 which is apertured coaxially with the extension 18 to receive an arm 19 of the instrument. Under normal tension of the cord 5 the arm 19 and the members 2, 3 are adjustable and rotation of the eccentric moves the cylinders 7, 12 axially of the stem to increase friction between the members 2, 3 and, by interaction of the bevels 14, 15, moves the pin 13 axially to lock the arm 19. |
