Riving knife device for a saw unit

The device has splitting wedges (7) arranged on top of each other and separated from each other by intermediate bars (64). The splitting wedges are engaged in a sawing gap of a sawing work-piece (1) in a usage position. The wedges are provided at a splitting wedge carrier (13), which is loaded in a springy elastic manner using a drive i.e. hold-down cylinder (12) in the usage position. The carrier is connected with a guiding element (9), which is movable relative to a supporter (8) by the drive. The hold-down cylinder is connected with the supporter in a fixed manner.
