<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a foreign matter from reaching a plunger in an electromagnetic spool valve that performs respiration on both sides of the plunger through the inside of the spool. <P>SOLUTION: Between a drain hole 6 within a spool and a "first space A on the front side of a plunger 2", three foreign matter traps (first to third foreign matter traps X1 to X3) consisting of a "throttle portion configured to throttle a flow passage area" and a volume space surrounding the periphery of the throttle portion" are provided. Further, a second space B on the rear side of the plunger 2 is made to communicate with only the first space A. Due to this, even if foreign matter discharged into the drain hole 6 within the spool flows backward, the foreign matter is trapped by the first to third foreign matter traps X1 to X3, thereby preventing the foreign matter from reaching the plunger 2.
