<p>A cowl top cover 10 has a locking hook 7 connectable to a windscreen 3 and a seal 8 to seal a gap to a bonnet 4. Cover 10 has a portion 21 parallel to and flush with a glass surface of windscreen 3, following an extension of the windscreen, and has a fragile portion 26 of reduced thickness, for example a trench or groove, allowing cover 10 to deform or break when subjected to a load exceeding a predetermined magnitude, for example through impact on windscreen 3 by an object 9. Fragile portion 26 may curve along a front edge of windscreen 3, or may be spaced from it by between 30% and 70% of the width of portion 21. Fragile portion 26 may be provided continuously or intermittently. Optionally, the fragile portion may comprise two spaced trenches (36, Figure 5) or a single wide trapezoidal trench (46, Figure 5). Cover 10 may comprise a thermoplastic resin, for example polypropylene.</p> |
