1. A computer implemented method for use in determining the deviation of an intra-operative position of an orthopedic implant in a bone of a patient from a planned position of the orthopedic implant in the bone of the patient, wherein the position of the orthopedic implant in the bone is defined by a plurality of implant position parameters, comprising the steps of: calculating a first set of distances, the first set of distances being measured from a plurality of anatomical features present in a three dimensional model of at least a surface of the bone of the patient relative to a model of the implant at a first position in the three dimensional model of the bone, the first position corresponding to a first set of values for the implant position parameters; calculating a second set of distances, the second set of distances being measured from the plurality of anatomical features present in the three dimensional model to a model of the same implant at a second position in the three dimensional model of the bone, the second position corresponding to a second set of values for the implant position parameters, and wherein the second position is different to the first position; determining an indication of any differences between the planned position of the implant and the actual intra-operative position of the implant using at least one of the first set of distances and the second set of distances, and distances that have been intra-operatively measured from the implant to the anatomical features of the bone of the patient, and storing at least one of the first set of distances and the second set of distances in a computer readable medium. |
