The present invention relates to a method for preparing a modified conjugated diene-based polymer, the method comprising the steps of: (a) polymerizing a conjugated diene-based monomer, or a conjugated diene-based monomer and an aromatic vinyl-based monomer by using a compound represented by chemical formula 1 in the presence of a hydrocarbon solvent so as to form an active polymer having an alkali metal terminal; and (b) coupling the active polymer to a compound represented by chemical formula 2 or making the active polymer react with a compound represented by chemical formula 2. In the chemical formula 1, R, n, X, and M are same as defined in the specification, and in the chemical formula 2, R^1, R^2, R^3, R^4, a, and n are same as defined in the specification. |
