The present invention relates to a driving apparatus for an electric vehicle. The apparatus includes a motor to include a rotor having the field winding and a stator having a main winding and an assistant winding individually; an engine to rotate the rotor selectively; a motor control part to include a first inverter connected to the main winding, a second inverter connected to the assistant winding and a field current controller connected to the field winding; a first battery to be connected with the first inverter, to start the motor or to be able to be charged by the motor; and a second battery to be connected with the second inverter, to be able to be charged by the motor and to have the lower charging voltage than the first battery.
