An image correction method for a display panel includes the steps of: emphasizing the boundaries of an input image to generate a luminous reflectance image; determining a first differential value of the brightness of each pixel in the luminous reflectance image; determining a second differential value of the brightness of each pixel in the luminous reflectance image; determining afterimage occurrence boundaries based on the cumulative values of the first and second differential values; determining whether to correct an afterimage by comparing the boundaries of a current input image and the afterimage occurrence boundaries; and correcting the afterimage by applying an blurring filter to an area corresponding to the afterimage occurrence boundaries.
