A tundish provided with a weir having a wall part and an eaves-shaped part projecting horizontally at the upper edge part of the wall part i s used to float up and separate inclusions i n molten steel in a more reliable and effective manner than in the past. A tundish (1) provided with a weir (7) having a notch (12) at one or more locations, ana having a wall part (8) that extends up - ward so as to surround the molten metal injector :from four directions, and further having an eaves-shaped part (9) that projects hori - zontally at the upper edge part of the wall part, the weir (7) being positioned between a molten steel injector (5) and a molten steel tap hole (6), i s used t o continuously cast steel castings (14) within a range in which the molten steel bath surface height (H) and the flow rate (Q) at which the molten steel i s injected into the tundish satisfy formula (1), where i s the weir height, S i s the area of the upper opening part, L i s the distance from the distal end of the eaves-shaped part to the short- side surface of the tundish, and W i s the distance fiOm the distal end of the eaves-shaped part to the long- side surface of the tundish. Formula (1): 3.50<[(Hh) x(Sp/Q) 1.37] -0.6 +[(7L/6)]x(Sp/Q) 1.37]+[(7W/6)x(Sp/Q) 1.37]<9.50
|
