The present invention relates to a graphite steel and, more specifically, relates to the graphite steel with excellent graphitizing properties capable of drastically reducing a graphitizing time when the graphite steel used for mechanical parts of industrial machines or vehicles require mainly a cutting process. The steel comprises: 0.80-1.50 wt% of carbon (C), 2.0-5.0 wt% of silicon (Si), 0.1-0.5 wt% of manganese (Mn), 0.030 wt% or less of phosphorus (P), 0.030 wt% or less of sulfur (S), 0.002-0.005 wt% of boron (B), 0.004-0.008 wt% of nitrogen (N), 0.01-0.03 wt% of aluminum (Al), 0.005 wt% or less of oxygen (O), and the remainder consisting of Fe and other impurities; thereby providing the graphite steel with excellent graphitizing properties wherein the graphitizing time is as short as inline graphitization. |
