An apparatus for displaying a traffic lane using head-up display and method thereof are provided to automatically recognize the traffic lane and to display a virtual traffic lane as an augmented reality to suit the position of the actual traffic line. The apparatus of the present invention is comprised of the following: a head-up display; at least one sensor unit that detects a traffic lane; and a control unit that processes the sensor information detected by the sensor unit, recognizes the paths and traffic lanes of the roads where the vehicle is currently driving, and displays a virtual traffic lane to suit the position of the traffic lane through the screen of the head-up display as an augmented reality.
