PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a container inspection apparatus configured to have a compact structure and irradiate the inside of a mouth of the container with inspection light suitable for inspection.SOLUTION: An inspection apparatus 1 for inspecting at least a mouth 101 of a preform 100 includes: a holding unit 32 having a holder 32a formed of a light diffusion member and inserted into the mouth 101, and holding a top end of the mouth 101; and an illumination device 21 having a light-emitting unit 21a for irradiating the inside of the holder 32a and emitting inspection light to the mouth 101 via the holder 32.
