The invention relates to the use of a syringe (10) for the injection of an active ingredient and to the post-injection of a medium, comprising a cylindrical syringe body (18) with a limiting wall (20) in the distal region transitioning preferably into a projection (16), two axially displaceable, mechanically connected plungers (24, 26) in the syringe body, and a first actuating element (22) for mutual displacement of the plungers, wherein, prior to the injection of the active ingredient, the distal plunger (26) and the limiting wall (20) confine a first volume (41) filled with the active ingredient and the plungers confine a second volume (43) filled with the medium between inner surfaces facing each other, wherein the plungers are shifted during application of force of the first actuation element in the direction of the limiting wall as a mechanically coupled unit until contact of the distal plunger on the limiting wall or on a stop, subsequently during further axial application of force on the first actuation element, the mechanical connection between the plungers is automatically changed in such a way that the proximal plunger is shifted in the direction of the distal plunger, wherein the medium pushes through the distal plunger and/or flows past the same during shifting of the proximal plunger to the distal plunger. |
