<p>This invention provides, at low cost, a stream-monitoring system that, for each of a plurality of reception channels, can detect, in a short amount of time, whether or not either a video stream or an audio stream is stopped. A video/audio monitoring device (20) detects whether or not either a video stream or an audio stream outputted by an STB (30) is stopped, and if said video stream or audio stream is stopped, after outputting stop-error information indicating that said stream is stopped, the video/audio monitoring device (20) switches the STB (30) to the next reception channel (a first action). If the video/audio monitoring device (20) detects on the basis of the video stream outputted by the STB (30) that the video represented thereby has not stopped and detects on the basis of the audio stream outputted by the STB (30) that audio output has not stopped, the video/audio monitoring device (20) cancels the abovementioned first action and then switches the STB (30) to the next reception channel.</p> |
