PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method for obtaining a cardiac glycoside from oleander.SOLUTION: Provided is a supercritical fluid (SCF) extract of a plant mass containing a cardiac glycoside. The extract is contained in a pharmaceutical composition with a sufficient amount of a solubilizer to dissolve the extract. When a plant containing a cardiac glycoside, for example, oleander, is extracted by SCF extraction, oleandrin is contained in the extract, and the extract may contain additional one or more SCF extractable pharmacologically active agents, and the composition is used to treat a variety of disorders that therapeutically react to the cardiac glycoside. |
