摘要 An in vivo capsule has a cauterization element that may be deployed by physician while in vivo for cauterizing a lesion, such as bleeding. Energy is transferred from outside of the patient's body to the capsule and specifically to the ablating element, such as via a resonance circuit. Accordingly, it is the object of the present invention to provide a method and apparatus for precisely cauterizing or ablating tissue in-vivo. Embodiments of the invention may provide an in-vivo device having a cauterization or ablation element incorporated therein and a system and method for controlled navigation of the in-vivo cauterization device through a body lumen.

An in-vivo device for performing in-vivo cauterization of a tissue within a body lumen, the device comprising: at least one illumination source for illuminating the body lumen; an optical head comprising: an imager for capturing images of the body lumen, and an optical system used to focus reflected light onto the imager; a dome behind which said optical head and said illumination source are located; and a heating element for cauterizing a tissue within the body lumen, wherein said heating element is shaped to conform to the curvature of said dome, and wherein said heating element extends from the device towards the tissue to be cauterized until it comes in contact with said tissue, and wherein said heating element retracts back towards said dome following cauterization of said tissue.
