A video game system for providing video games to terminal devices of one or more players via a network, the video game system comprising: an owned game content storage unit configured to store one or more first game contents owned by a first player among the one or more players in association with first player identification information identifying the first player, and to store one or more second game contents owned by a second player among the one or more players in association with second player identification information identifying the second player; an exhibition request obtaining unit configured to obtain from the first player an exhibition request for exhibiting the first game contents; an exchange request obtaining unit configured to obtain from the second player an exchange request for exchanging the second game contents for the first game contents; a determination unit configured to determine whether or not to conclude an exchange of the first game contents and the second game contents based on comparison of a predetermined threshold value with a difference between a trade quantity of the first game contents and a trade quantity of the second game contents when the exchange request obtaining unit obtains the exchange request and an updating unit configured to update the owned game content storage unit such that the first game contents are stored in association with the second player identification information and the second game contents are stored in association with the first player identification information only when the determination unit determines that the exchange is concluded.
