876,800. Pressing laminated footwear. BRITISH BATA SHOE CO. Ltd. Dec. 29, 1958 [Dec. 27, 1957], No. 41848/58. Addition to 876,799. Class 87(2). In a modification of the shoe-pressing machine claimed in the parent Specification, a pressure driven piston 110 mounted in a housing 107 supports the lasted shoe 126 and valve means .127 allow the introduction of a pressure medium into the spaces between the receptacle 106 and the expansile pressing element 114 and between the piston housing 107 and the piston 110. These spaces are in communication through vents 131, Fig. 2, in the bearing surfaces 112. Thus when compressed air or other fluid is forced through valve 127, the expansile element 114 is forced inwardly toward the shoe 126 and, at the same time, the piston 110 is raised until the sole 126a of the shoe is pressed against the resilient pad 105 mounted on the retractable pressing element 100.
