Media Recording Element

A media recording element having capabilities to facilitate recording media for subsequent playback. The recording element further including features associated with limited operations of a hard drive of other similarly mechanical memory under certain operating conditions so as to limit power consumption and/or memory degradation.

causing, by a processor, storage of content associated with a media content stream to a first memory; causing storage of the content associated with the media content stream to a solid-state memory in response to a buffering event; and in response to inactivity of a portion of the first memory, causing output of the content associated with the media content stream from the solid-state memory.
