The present invention relates to the technical field of communications. Disclosed are a method and an apparatus for inferring a social relationship, which can infer a real social relationship during inferring a social relationship between users. The method of the present invention comprises: acquiring activity data of at least two users, and determining activity events of the at least two users according to the activity data, the activity data comprising a site location, a time range, and sensor data; determining a common activity event according to the activity events; and determining a social relationship between the at least two users according to the common activity event. The present invention is applicable to a terminal device.
