PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of controlling a mobile device without a native touch screen display of the mobile device.SOLUTION: A mobile device 602 is coupled to an external display device 606 to display on the external display device 606 information to be displayed on a display 604 of the mobile device 602, and has a function of receiving input via the external display device 606. The mobile device 602 further has a function of mapping the input to one or more keypad events, and a function of transmitting to at least one application the one or more keypad events.
