Disclosed is an ink cartridge (1) for an inkjet printer that is detachably mounted in a cartridge mounting part (100) of the inkjet printer, a protruding part (104) being provided in the cartridge mounting part (100) of the inkjet printer. The ink cartridge (1) comprises an ink storage cavity (11); an ink supply port (14); a first detection mechanism (21), wherein when the ink cartridge (1) is loaded into the cartridge mounting part (100), the first detection mechanism (21) shields light emitted by a first sensor (101) of the inkjet printer or alters the path of the light emitted by the first sensor (101); a movable member (30) pushed and moved by the protruding part (104) of the inkjet printer in the process of mounting the ink cartridge (1) in the cartridge mounting part (100) of the inkjet printer; a second detection mechanism (40) linked with the movable member (30), optionally shielding light emitted by a second sensor (102) of the inkjet printer or altering the path of the light emitted by the second sensor (102), and the second detection mechanism (40) can make reciprocating movement upwards and downwards in the direction perpendicular to the direction in which the ink cartridge (1) is mounted. Using this ink cartridge prevents the problem of inaccurate detection caused by using a lever to detect whether the ink cartridge has been mounted in position.
