<p>The present invention relates to a vehicle compound transmission that includes transmission housing, a main transmission section, and a range transmission section. The main transmission section is provided with at least one gear ratio, is located within and supported by the transmission housing, and is provided with at least one countershaft that internally defines a first axially extending service support tool receiving cavity. The range transmission section is provided with at least one gear ratio and at least one countershaft that internally defines a second axially extending service support tool receiving cavity that is coaxial with the first axially extending service support tool receiving cavity. The first and second axially extending service support tool receiving cavities are dimensioned to receive a service support tool, which, in combination with the at least one countershaft of the main transmission section, supports the at least one counter shaft of the range transmission section and associated gears during service.</p> |
