<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device that controls the operation of a fixing member until the stop of rotation according to the heat storage state inside the device, so as to prevent damage to the fixing member due to overshoot and suppress a reduction in the life of the device.SOLUTION: A fixing device includes a rotatable endless belt-like fixing member 1, heating means 2 for directly heating the fixing member 1, a rotatable pressure member 3 that is in pressure contact with the fixing member 1, a nip forming member 6 that is arranged opposite to the pressure member 3 inside the fixing member 1 to form a nip part N between the fixing member 1 and pressure member 3, and rotation control means for controlling the rotation of the fixing member 1 and pressure member 3, and fixes unfixed images on recording media S at the nip part N. The fixing device further includes heat storage detection means for detecting the heat storage state inside the device, and the rotation control means controls the rotation of the fixing member 1 according to the heat storage state detected by the heat storage detection means after the stop of heating by the heating means 2 and at a predetermined time before the stop of rotation of the fixing member 1.</p> |
