This alkaline dry cell is provided with the following: a positive-electrode case (1) that has a nickel plating layer (12) formed on the surface thereof; a positive electrode (2) located inside said positive-electrode case; and a negative electrode (3) located in a hollow section of said positive electrode with a separator (4) interposed therebetween. A nickel-cobalt alloy plating layer (11) and a carbon-material layer (10) are formed on the nickel plating layer on the inside surface of the positive-electrode case. The carbon-material layer is formed on the nickel-cobalt alloy plating layer (11) after said alloy plating layer (11) is annealed. The alloy plating layer (11) is between 0.05 and 0.4 µm thick, inclusive, and cobalt constitutes between 37% and 57%, inclusive, of the combined mass of nickel and cobalt in the alloy plating layer (11). |
