PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous ink composition excellent in viscosity distribution stability with time by suppressing ununiformity of viscosity distribution (vertical difference of viscosity) with time of the aqueous ink composition containing oxycellulose.SOLUTION: There is provided an aqueous ink composition for writing instrument containing at least oxycellulose of 0.05 to 1.5 mass% and saccharide having a weight average molecular weight of 5000 or less of 0.001 to 30 mass%.
