PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for improving treatment of retinal degeneration on the basis of cells and a method for differentiating human embryonic stem cells and human embryonic-derived cells into retinal pigment epithelial (RPE) cells and other retinal precursor cells.SOLUTION: A method for treating or preventing retinal degeneration includes the step of using cells selected from the group consisting of at least one kind of RPE cells, RPE-like cells, and RPE or RPE-like precursors derived from mammal embryonic stem cells. |
