PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for ring-closing metathesis to produce a cyclic alkene by contacting a diterminal diene compound with a catalytic complex.SOLUTION: The method uses catalytic complexes including a metal atom having anionic ligands, at least one nucleophilic carbene ligand and an alkylidene, vinylidene, and/or allenylidene ligand, and a metal atom selected from ruthenium and osmium. The catalytic complexes are highly stable to air, moisture and thermal degradation, and effectively implement a variety of ring-closing metathesis reactions. |
