878,106. Powder dispensers. ARMOUR & CO. March 3, 1959 [March 3, 1958], No. 7434/59. Class 81 (2). [Also in Groups XIII and XVII] A powder dispenser comprises a flexible bulb 5 and a tubular capsulereceiving member 1, the upper end of which is dimensioned to fit the neck of the bulb, the capsule-receiving member having a seat 11 for a powder capsule 3 and a stop 8 for the powder capsule when it is propelled upwardly by air from the bulb. The tubular member 1 of rigid synthetic plastic has a nozzle 2 at one end which is a friction fit in the neck 31 ofthe rubber bulb 5 which has air passages 6. The powder capsule 3, which is open at one end and may be made of gelatin, is loosely housed in the member 1 between an apertured seat 11 and an apertured stop 8. On squeezing the bulb, the capsule is forced sharply against the stop and powder ejected by the impact is carried by the air stream from the bulb. When not in use the member 1 is retracted within the bulb, the nozzle exterior then frictionally fitting the neck, and a cap .(not shown) is screwed over the neck to close the nozzle and the air passages 6. In an alternative construction, the air passages 6 are omitted. The device may be used with the capsule-receiving member in retracted position. Specification 668,341 is referred to. |
