The absorbent core (5) comprises at least a first region (41) and a second region (42) with differing basis weights. The first region (41) has a higher basis weight than the second region (42). The first region (41) comprises the crotch section (C) and the second region (42) comprises the back section (B). The first region (41) comprises a group of fold-inducing sections (50) obtained from multiple strip-shaped fold-inducing sections (51, 52a, 52b) that extend in the longitudinal direction. The group of fold-inducing sections (50) is obtained from a central fold-inducing section (51) and a pair of side fold-inducing sections (52a, 52b) located on either side of the central fold-inducing section (51). The group of fold-inducing sections (50) is located closer to the crotch section (C) than the lower edges (31A, 32A) of the outer covering (3) on the abdominal section (A) and said group of fold-inducing sections (50) is absent from the back section (B).
