<p>In order for an apparatus, which is wirelessly connected to a public network, to achieve a precise measurement of roundtrip time to be used for calculating the active bandwidth of a communication channel, a mobile terminal, which is wirelessly connected to the Internet, uses a predetermined communication channel to communicate with a service server connected to the Internet. The mobile terminal repeatedly measures a time in which a dummy packet is transmitted to the service server and in which an acknowledgement response packet is received thereafter. The mobile terminal then calculates a pattern that is one of patterns of variation of measurement values and that consists of only low frequency components (S115-S117). The mobile terminal acquires, on the basis of the calculated pattern, a roundtrip time RTT to be used for calculation of the active bandwidth BW of the communication channel (S118). The active bandwidth BW calculated from the roundtrip time is provided to the service server and then used for congestion control.</p> |
