Provided are a roller and a device using the roller wherein the roller has on the surface a knitted material that is used in devices designed for conserving resources, conserving energy, and lowering costs. A roller (1), the surface of which is covered by a covering (3) made of a knitted fabric, moves an object for transport, supply, or the like, air cools or air dries while moving the object, or rotates by suctioning the object. The roller (1) comprising a knitted fabric (3a) is configured such that: the knitted fabric (3a) that covers the roller surface has an air permeable gap and a step (6) comprising a stripe that is a stripe pattern on the front and back face; the stripes are on the surface of a supporting rotating body (2) and perpendicular to the direction of rotation; the loops constituting the knitted fabric (3a) have a large loop (4b) region and a small loop (4c) region that are adjacent in the direction of rotation; the large loop (4b) is in a continuous form with little slack in knitted threads (8) and the small loop (4c) is in a continuous form having linked sections (3b) of the knitted threads (8) in the stitch direction in the axial direction; the step (6) is between the small loop (4c) and the large loop (4b); and the knitted fabric (3a) that forms a striped pattern (4) in the axial direction is provided on the covered supporting rotating body (2). |
