摘要
879,553. Golf-clubs. GIZA, E. S. Nov. 18. 1959 [Nov. 18, 1958; Sept. 4, 1959], No. 39067/59. Class 132(2). A putter head is formed as a loop such that the striking face is spaced from the rear of the head and the head is symmetrical about a vertical plane which contains the point of contact with the ball and is perpendicular to the striking face. As shown in Fig. 1, a band of spring steel is bent to the shape shown to form the striking face 12, curved ends 14, 16 6 and rear wall portions 18, 20 which are joined by welding thereto within the loop a block 22 one inclined face 30 of which has a bore to receive the shaft 8 e.g. by screw threads. Sighting is aided by an arrow 26 on the block and a notch 28 at the centre of the upper edge of the face 12. As shown in Fig. 4, the block has two oppositely inclined bores 24, 36 and a vertical bore 34 so that the shaft can be connected for use by left- and right-handed players or vertically. The loop of Fig. 4 is differently shaped from that of Fig. 1. As shown in Fig. 6, the head is cast with a thin striking surface 48 separated by a slot 50 from a rear block 48 which carries the shaft 56 either by a socket 58 or by a selected threaded bore. The rear block may have vertical apertures to reduce the weight or to receive weights. In front elevation, the head may be rectangular or have convex upper and lower boundaries.
