<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately detect a focus adjusted state of an optical system even if a position of a tracking target cannot be detected normally.SOLUTION: A focus detecting device comprises: storage means 18 for storing reference information for a tracking target; imaging means 16 for repeatedly picking up image information on an imaging face, on which an image is formed by an optical system 1; position detecting means 9 for detecting a position of the tracking target on the imaging face on the basis of comparison of the image information on the imaging face with the reference information, and outputting a first detection result and a second detection result in succession; selecting means 9 for selecting at least one focus detecting position from a plurality of focus detecting positions set within the imaging face on the basis of at least the first detection result; and focus detecting means 10 for detecting a focus adjusted state of the optical system relative to the focus detecting position selected by the selecting means.</p> |
