A method and an apparatus for loosening oil that has adhered or become affixed to ice in cold conditions, according to which the surface of the ice (17) is treated with hot oil. Most preferably, hot oil is sprayed onto the oil adhering to the surface of the ice, or the piece of ice is taken into a basin or a tank containing hot oil. In addition to the hot oil treatment, at least one jet of compressed air is directed at the surface of the ice prior to the warm or hot oil treatment and/or after the treatment. |
