<p>The invention relates to an energy absorbing chair with a purpose to reduce the risk of injury, especially in accidents where the torso of the chair occupant is pressed against the backrest. This is accomplished by allowing a limited rotation of the backrest, transforming the rotary motion into a rectilinear motion, which together with an associated force in the direction of motion defines the energy that can be transferred to an energy absorbing element. By means of energy thus being transferred from the chair occupant accelerations and forces on the head and cervical spine of the chair occupant will be reduced, which reduces the risk of injury.</p> |
