FIELD: medicine.SUBSTANCE: examining the damping function of an individual's foot in terms of the basic elastic characteristics involves measuring a body weight on medical scales. A flatbed scanner is used to scan sequentially a plantar surface of both feet in a normally anatomically standing individual with a foot load making 50% of his/her body weight. That is followed by measuring a foot height from a horizontal surface to a highest point in a projection of navicular. Both feet are sequentially scanned with the plantar surface of one extremity bearing on a support; the foot load makes 100% body weight, whereas knee and hip joints of the opposite lower extremity are bent, and the foot does not touch the horizontal surface. That is followed by measuring the foot height from the horizontal surface to the highest point in a projection of the navicular. A software program calculates the linear parameters individually, as well as a bearing surface area for each foot with fifty percent and a hundred percent sole weight load. A foot deformation ratio along its three main axes, an elasticity coefficient and vertical-axis Young modulus are calculated, and the damping function of the foot is evaluated.EFFECT: method enables increasing the determination accuracy of the mechanical characteristics and functional state of the individual's foot by scanning the plantar surfaces of both feet bearing various loads and positioned variously.2 dwg |
