<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CD measuring apparatus having enhanced measurement sensitivity and improved reliability, and a CD measuring method. <P>SOLUTION: A circular dichroism measuring apparatus comprises elliptical polarization modulation means which modulates the phase difference (δ) between the two polarization components orthogonal to each other of a linear polarization so as to alternately form the right and left elliptical polarizations having a large flatness factor with identical long axis orientation, polarization intensity measuring means which sorts the polarization component in short axis orientation from the right and left elliptical polarizations transmitting through a measurement sample so as to measure the change in intensity of the polarization component, and calculation means which samples each of the direct current (DC) component of the change in intensity and the alternate current (AC) component of the change in intensity synchronized with the modulation of the phase difference so as to obtain the circular dichroism of the measurement sample through the calculation of the product of the ratio (AC/DC) of the alternate current component to the direct current component and the modulation amplitude (δ<SB POS="POST">0</SB>) of the phase difference. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT</p> |
