[Also in Group XXXV] The armature of an electric motor is supplied through a controlled rectifier T R and diode D s for one direction of rotation, whilst, for the other direction, the armature is supplied through rectifier T s and diode D R . The armature voltage of the motor is compared with a reference voltage, and the error voltage provides grid control of the rectifiers. The rectifiers are each shunted by a resistor-capacitor combination in order to improve the firing characteristics, a choke L being connected in series with the armature to improve the form factor of the armature current. The rectifiers T R , T S may be replaced by transistors. |
