PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a viscous aqueous composition which has excellent shape retention, dispersion stability, salt resistance or the like and further has excellent emulsion stability, a method for producing the same, and to provide cellulose fiber used therefor.SOLUTION: The viscous aqueous composition comprises the following (A) component and (B) component: (A) is a cellulose fiber having the maximum fiber diameter of ≤1,000 nm and the number average fiber diameter of 2 to 150 nm, in which the cellulose has a cellulose I type crystal structure, further, the hydroxyl group at the C6th place of each glucose unit in the cellulose molecules is selectively oxidized to be denatured into a carboxyl group, thus the ratio of the carboxyl group is 0.6 to 2.0 mmol/g, and also, the carboxyl group is made into the salt of monoamine whose organic value in an organic conception diagram is ≤300; and (B) is water. |
