The present invention relates to a terminal used in an ESL system and an operating method thereof. The terminal is used in the ESL system including an ESL server transceiving data about a product through an access point (AP) and an ESL tag placed on a rack on which the product is displayed. The terminal calculates and guides an optimal route to the product based on a received signal strength indicator (RSSI) value about a signal transmitted from the AP and position information of the product to be purchased.
