The present invention relates to a data exchange device and a method thereof. The data exchange device includes: an exchange data storage unit which stores the exchange data acquired from a first terminal to be transmitted to a second terminal; an exchange data communications unit which connects the first terminal and the second terminal to establish communications therebetween, receives the exchange data from the first terminal, and transmits the exchange data to the second terminal; and an exchange data control unit which establishes communications connection to the first terminal or the second terminal to exchange the exchange data with the connected terminal upon receiving communications connection request from the first or second terminal as a copy function activation command is input to the first terminal or a past function activation command is input to the second terminal.
