<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an emulator device capable of efficiently using a trace memory area by eliminating trace information unnecessary for debugging a program. <P>SOLUTION: Before execution of a program, the kind of a branch instruction which is excluded from branch trace targets is set to an instruction code analysis circuit 70. If an instruction code executed by a microprocessor matches a branch instruction of the set kind after the program execution is started by the microprocessor, a branch instruction trace data generation signal 205 is not output to a trace data generation circuit 30 and trace data 202 is not generated.
