<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary electric machine for efficiently reducing a prescribed degree of electromagnetic excitation force by arranging magnetic barriers in appropriate positions. <P>SOLUTION: The plurality of magnetic barrier sections 13 are arranged in parts positioned on an opposite side of a rotation axis P to a permanent magnet 20 in a first core section R1 positioned on a center side of a rotor 1 to a center of a stator among 2p pieces of core sections R1 to R4 obtained by dividing the rotor core 10 at respective pole faces 11a to 11d in a circumferential direction in a prescribed cross section perpendicular to the rotation axis P, and are arranged in positions symmetrical to a straight line A1 connecting a center PC1 in the circumferential direction of an outer peripheral face of the first core section R1 and the rotation axis P.
