In a ball or roller bearing, oil - retaining rings 15, Fig. 1, engage conical grooves 16 in the outer race 1, and are supported by split - rings 12, 13, which are supported and retained in grooves in guide-rings 5, 6 formed by shoulders 11, and the end faces of the inner race, the latter being the only rotating member. In a modification, Fig. 2, each ring 19 is of light metal, having a separate base 20 which engages face 22 of the inner race 21. In a further modification, the oil-retaining rings engage the outside diameter of the outer race, and a seal is provided between the vertical faces of the race and rings. |
