Disclosed is a method for recognizing a face including the steps of: receiving a test image, dividing the test image into a plurality of blocks, and then obtaining a plurality of local feature descriptors for each divided block; selecting one local feature descriptor for each block of the test image by using an object probability model; calculating a weighted value for each block of the test image; calculating distance values of similarity between the blocks, matched with each other, by using the selected local feature descriptor and the weighted value while sequentially comparing a plurality of reference images with the test image; and recognizing an image among the reference images which corresponds to the test image by comparing the calculated distance values of similarity.
