摘要 A backlight includes light emitting diodes; a substrate on which light emitting diodes are mounted; and a reflection sheet. The surface on which the light emitting diodes are mounted of the substrate is opposed to a rear surface of the liquid crystal display panel. The liquid crystal display panel and the substrate each have a shape in which a common width in a first direction is longer than a width in a second direction, which is orthogonal to the first direction. The width of the substrate in the second direction is shorter than the width of the liquid crystal display panel in the second direction. The substrate is opposed to, while avoiding being opposed to both end portions of the liquid crystal display panel in the second direction, a central portion between the both end portions of the liquid crystal display panel.

A liquid crystal display device, comprising: a liquid crystal display panel having a display surface and a rear surface, which is on a side opposite to the display surface; and a backlight, wherein: the backlight comprises: a plurality of light emitting diodes;a substrate on which all of the plurality of light emitting diodes are mounted;a reflection sheet, which overlaps the substrate at a surface on which all of the plurality of light emitting diodes are mounted in a manner without overlapping the plurality of light emitting diodes; the surface on which all of the plurality of light emitting diodes are mounted of the substrate is opposed to the rear surface of the liquid crystal display panel; the liquid crystal display panel and the substrate each have a shape in which a common width in a first direction is longer than a width in a second direction, which is orthogonal to the first direction; the width of the substrate in the second direction is shorter than the width of the liquid crystal display panel in the second direction, the substrate being opposed to, while avoiding being opposed to both end portions of the liquid crystal display panel in the second direction, a central portion between the both end portions of the liquid crystal display panel; the substrate on which all of the plurality of light emitting diodes are mounted is only arranged opposite to the central portion of the liquid crystal display panel and not arranged opposite to the end portions of the liquid crystal display panel; and a center line of the substrate on which all of the plurality of light emitting diodes are mounted extending in the first direction is substantially overlapped with a center line of the liquid crystal display panel extending in the first direction in plan view.
