Class 75(4) [Also in Group XXV] A waterproof light fitting comprises a hood, a transparent trough-shaped closure window, a watertight seal between the window and the hood, a reflector and one or more light sources, the window being detachably supported from the reflector, and attachment means being provided for supporting the reflector for the hood so as to allow of a limited separation whereby the window can be removed from the fitting. Contacts may be provided on the hood and reflector so that the separating movement opens the circuit to the lamps. In the form shown, the hood 1 which may be supported from a post by a threaded tube 4, is of inverted trough shape with a spindle 5 operable by an external handle extending lengthwise throughout. Hooks 7 are supported eccentrically at the ends of the rod and are notched at 9 to receive pins 10 on the ends of the reflector 2 in which are mounted two fluorescent tubes 15, 16. The window 3 is supported by inturned edges 25, 26 resting on ledges 23, 24 on the reflector. Operating gear 18 for the lamps is mounted on the top of the reflector together with three resilient contact pins 19 co-operating with abutments 20 on the hood. A sealing gasket 28 is provided on the edge of the hood. On rotation of the spindle 5 the reflector is drawn up into the hood pressing the window into close contact with the gasket and along the contacts 19. |
