A suspension for a pivotally mounted vehicle wheel 5 in which a stub-axle support 4 is fixed to the lower end 3 of a telescopic spring unit attached to a transverse link 7 has the upper end of the unit supported by a ball joint 2 having its housing 2a supported by rubber or rubber-like material 10, 11. A ring 20 fixed to a flange 19 on a sheet metal housing 9 by rivets or welding holds the material in compression against a flange 18 on the housing 2a. In an alternative construction, the housing of the ball joint is cylindrical and is screwed into a metal box bonded to a rubber sleeve. The joint 6 may also be a ball joint. |
