PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that can suitably detect the amount of loop of sheets to prevent the occurrence of disturbance or color shift of images formed on the sheets.SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a transfer roller, a fixing unit, a slack detection unit that detects the amount of slack of a sheet generated due to the difference in speed between the transfer roller and fixing unit, and a control unit that controls the difference in speed according to the amount of slack. The slack detection unit includes a sensor flag 302 that rocks according to the amount of slack, a photointerrupter 303 that outputs signals according to the rocking position of the sensor flag 302, a first holder 304 that supports the sensor flag 302, a second holder 305 that movably supports the first holder 304 substantially parallel to a sheet conveyance direction, and a long hole 304c, a fixing hole 305c, and a screw member 306 that fixe the first holder 304 to the second holder 305 at a position where the first holder 304 has been moved. |
